If normal people were to see these chosen humans without any knowledge of what we the readers know, they would be seen as gods. Since we know it's more of like science since there are steps to get anywhere. It's insane how the author does a great job explaining this system of understanding and power. That normal humans were bombarded with.
It would act as a Filter, filtering out the Visible light spectrum and other useful and benign wavelengths while cutting off everything else, repelling the dangers and keeping everyone healthy.
