Chapter 3: The past, New Powers and New Goals.
{ 19 years since the death of Himmel, the Hero.} Location: The outskirts of Holy City, Strahal.
~MC pov~
" 143, 144,145,146, ha* breath in* 147,148, come on, you can do it. 149...150! Phu~ ha ha." I swift away the sweat from my forehead. I am grinning ear to ear. It is truly satisfying to watch your own growth.
At first, when I started I couldn't even complete ten push-ups. After working my ass off for half a year I was able to make it to 150 push up.
" That's the power of grind baby!" I said while preparing to complete my setup too. What? You can't become the strongest by only doing push-ups. You have to train your stamina too.
' I still have a long way to go from becoming the strongest but it's still a step nonetheless!'
I cheer myself up. After finishing my setups I took a few minutes rest and started running. I ran until I couldn't feel my legs. Luckily I reached my destination, the river. I sit near the lake to catch my breath. I washed my face with the cold and clean water. I then drink water from there too.
'Normally drinking water from this kind of river is bad for our health as there are many kinds of infection in this kind of water source. But that could be solved with old man's healing.'
Thinking about them makes me smile. Yeah, they accepted my request to stay with them. They are really good people. I don't know what I would have done without them.
Unlike in the novels or fanfics, it isn't easy to live in another world. Not to me at least. The first month I felt really depressed, like really really depressed. It isn't easy to come to the fact that you will not be able to live in your home anymore, and not to see your parents or siblings. My family was very precious to me. We were a big family too. My grandparents had 5 children. I girl and 4 boys. My father was the oldest of his brothers and my aunt was the oldest of the five.
' I miss them. I miss my father spoiling me, my mother scolding me, my big sister annoying me, I miss my friends, I miss my phone, miss internet, and last but not least, the toilet in my old world. '
I felt so emotional in the first month that I couldn't focus on magic at all or the powers I have now. Fern said I need to have a good amount of control over emotions to learn magic. As magic is entirely based on how much one has control over his/her mana or at least that's what the book says. You see Fern is an entirely self-taught mage. The old man only gave her a book that had only ten pages or so. It's name is 'The Beginner's Guide to Magic.'
Now I know the reason for her crude way of using mana. She doesn't even have anyone to teach her. But I can say she has the talent to become a mage. Even without anyone teaching her she was able to come this far and she is improving every day.
Anyway, as I was saying, it was really hard for me for the first month. I got better after a few talks with the old man. But I can't help but be sad when I am alone like this. It reminds me that I will not see them again for a long time. I don't even know if I will see them at all.
' I hope you're doing ok ba, I hope you are not crying much ma, I hope you get married to a good man sis. ' Tears started to fall from my eyes. I didn't control my emotions at times like this. I have to release them at some point. Better to do that now than in the future.
I stopped thinking about that for now and started to test my eye powers. I had this powers since the first day of my kidnapping into this world. Now my eyes aren't ordinary anymore. I have two powers in both of my eyes. My right eye which is red, has the power to see really far and really close. I call my right eye [The Eye of Sight]. My left eye, which is blue has the power to mana in their raw from, the ability to fast really fast and the ability to control my mana at molecular level. I call my left eye [The Eye of In-sight].
I try to look as far as I can see with my ES. And I try to think of doing multiple calculations at the same time with my EI. That results in me getting a really bad headache. I stopped when I started to feel that way. But now I can keep going for a long 1 minute. Previously, if I active both of my powers at the same time I could last for 1 or 2 seconds. And if I use onel my right eye I can probably last for a minute and with only left eye 5 or 6 seconds. Now, I can last for about a full minute while using both of my powers. Anyway, I feeling light headed after completing all my tasks. I took a deep breath and stopped for a second and started to enjoy the environment around me.
I enjoy this peace that I am feeling right now. I watched as the birds played with themselves as it was still morning. I moved under a tree and thought about taking a short nap. As I lay under the tree it didn't take much time for me to fall asleep.

" Mr, Akash." I woke up after hearing my name called out. The voice sounds like a child's voice. But a voice I know very well. I don't need to open my eyes to know who called me.
I slowly woke up while rubbing my right eye with my right hand and said, " Good morning Fern. "
There she is sitting beside me while looking at my face. " Good morning to you too Mr. Akash. You didn't come by your usual time. So I thought about looking for you if you are slacking in your work and indeed I was right."
She said with a small sigh making it look like she was tired of my behavior.
" Ouch. You don't have to pay it like that you know. I was just a bit tired today as I finished the temporary tasks the old man had given me.
Also, thank you for worrying about me." I said dramatically.
" Hump! Who is worried about you? I am just checking if you are working properly." She said with a pout. She is adorable when she does that.
I wish I could hug her right now. She has become the only source of happiness for me. Her getting man is also very cute.
' I guess we are kind of like childhood friends.' I just laughed at her pouting face. At that, she got even more mad and started hitting me lightly on my stomach.
" Okay okay! I surrender. You win. Yes, I was slaking off. Alright? Happy?" I said while raising both of my hands in the air.
" Hmp! At least you confessed your crimes. Now quickly get to the woods. I have to prepare breakfast too." After saying that she walked away.
I quickly got the stake of woods that I had already gathered and started following her. Completely forgot about the sadness I felt a few moments ago.
" So, Fern. What are for breakfast today?" I started making small talk to make up to her. She is still pouting but still answered," You will find out after eating it."
" Come on. Don't be mad. You know I didn't laugh to make fun of you. I laughed because your pouting is adorable. "
That got a reaction out of her. She stopped for a few seconds and I could see from behind that her ears were a bit red but she started to walk again. Although with less annoyance. I decided to use my ultimate weapon.
" Oh, Fern. I forget to say this but I found some sweet berries in the forest. I wonder if you have some. I can't eat all of them. And the old man doesn't like sweets either." I said while taking out 10 purple berries from my pouch. I know she loves sweet things. Which girl doesn't?
She stopped again hearing me. I got close to her and held her right hand up. I gave her 8 berries and left 2 for myself. Although I don't like sweets but this will give me protein.
" Don't worry. Eat them all. You always work hard for us. Think of this as a reward." I said chewing a berry. ' Damn, it's too sweet.'
She just looked at the berries in her hand and started eating one. " Thank you, Mr. Akash." She said with a small smile.
' That's the smile I am looking for!' I said in a low voice. But what I didn't know was that I said that out loud. As Fern stopped yet again hearing that.
"What's wrong? Do you want another one? Here you can have it." I handed her my last berry too.
' I don't like it anyway. It's too sweet for me.' I thought as I started walking ahead.
" Come on Fern. I am getting hungry. "
As I was looking ahead I couldn't see the smile she had at that moment. All I heard was her footsteps coming towards me. " Alright Akash." She said.

~3rd pov(Fern)~
A few moments before MC took a nap.....
Fern was looking through all the ingredients she had at the moment. She is going to make breakfast for the three of them. As neither Heiter-sama nor Mr. Akash knows how to cook. She had some experience cooking with her parents when she was a child. She knows how to make a simple breakfast. Plus, practicing for the past 1 year made her learn many things.
She stopped her work as she saw the time in her mental clock. ' It's past the time Mr. Akash usually arrives. Did he get in some shorts of problems?'
Fern had known the boy for the past 6 months. While she doesn't know everything about him she knows a lot. And from her calculations, he doesn't like to waste time like herself. But he won't mind wasting time if he feels like it.
' I should check on him.' she decided. She knew his parents and sister passed away recently and he hasn't gotten over it yet. The first month was the worst of it. He woke up every night crying. Something just stares at the sky for no reason. Although Heiter-sama was able to comfort him. I think he sees him as his grandpa too. After the first month, it started to get better. He started to learn magic too.
Although it was very embarrassing when I couldn't teach him anything as I myself know very little about it. But he didn't get distressed about that. He was more motivated than ever. Saying that ' I will create my own magic.'
His motivation affected her too. She started to try harder. He was a good friend. Hard-working too. He started working on his physical strength too three months ago.
He said he doesn't like to have weaknesses. He said he would be a warrior and a mage. He calls that Magic Swordsman. Anyway, after saying to Heiter-sama that she was going to look for Akash she first went to the spot where he usually stays. The river that flows between the forest.
And as suspected he was there sleeping. She also saw the stake of woods beside him. ' At least he has done his work.'
As she got closer to him to wake him up he saw his face was full of sweat. She also saw him murmuring something, " Pa...ma.... Don't....go. Sis.... sorry."
She just stands there and listens to him not knowing what to do. Then he suddenly reaches out his right hand as if to catch something. She, without thinking grabbed his hand and sat next to his right. She saw his hand tighten around her as if to not let go. She tightened her left hand too and started to pat his head with her right hand.
She saw his face becoming normal. After some minutes she decided to wake him up. She let go of his hand and called him,
" Mr. Akash."

~3rd pov(Heiter)~
Heiter sighed after finishing his letter to Eisen. His has started exchanging letters with his friend. He has been doing so for the past year. After he adopted Akash who wishes to be a Magic Swordsman, whom he came up with, he had to ask for Eisen's help. He might been in the hero's party but he wasn't a magician nor a warrior. But he has been with both and he knows some things about them.
He can give them some tips but that's all. That's why he contacted his two friends. But only one has replied. Eisen was the warrior of his party along with Himmel. And the magician was an elf named Frieren. Eisen had already replied to his letters as he only wanted some advice. On the other hand, he asked Frieren to visit him. She didn't reply until now but he wasn't upset as elves view time differently. He is sure he will get a reply but he hopes he will live until then.
" Oi old man, we are home!" Speaking of that little rascal. He got up from his chair and headed towards the living room. Seeing them coming together warms his heart.
" Welcome back you two."
" Good morning Heiter-sama," Fern said.
" Good morning to you too." He replied with a smile.
" Hey old man, listen! I completed all of your tasks today. I finished 150 push-ups and set-ups and a 15-kilometre run. Now tell me when will I become a warrior." Akash said grinding ear to ear.
" Very good. Now that you completed your basic you will move to your next stage. Go fresh up we will go to a place after breakfast."
After breakfast, he took Akash to his room first. He took the dairy that was on his table and turned towards him.
" Here, Akash. Take this book. It was made by a friend of my name Eisen. He took was a warrior. I asked him for some advice for my little warrior." He said handing over the diary.
" Hey, I am not little." He protected but took the diary nonetheless.
" Read that later. First, we have to go somewhere. Get ready." He said as was already ready. Akash quickly goes to his room and comes out with a sword on his hips that was given to him some months ago. However, he was only able to use it after completing all of his tasks.
" Oh, I see you have your sword with you this time," Heiter said.
" Yeah! I always wanted to use it. And that I am allowed to have it I will always keep it with me. "
" Sigh~ alright let's get going." They both walk away leaving Fern who was practicing magic on her own.
They both walk for some time soon they reach the river. After crossing the river they went a bit farther and Akash could see a giant rock, the size was the same as their house and just as thick, in front of them.
Akash slowly turned towards Heiter who was looking at him with a smile and said,
" Hey, old man. I don't have to cut this rock right?"
Heiter in turn smiled and said," Oh? How do you know that?"
Akash was dumbfounded and couldn't think for seconds. After getting his bearing he said, " You are kidding right?"
Heiter suddenly pushed his glasses up and it mysteriously started to shine, " Oh no young Akash. I am not kidding."
