Chapter 136: Stillbirth

Rui Shuren lived in a separate building from her parents, though they still shared the same courtyard. When Song Zhuyu stepped through the threshold, he spotted her seated on a chair right outside the house, basking in the sunlight. Her complexion still looked poor, and the bruise Chen Ru delivered on her cheek had bloomed into a hideous purplish color, but at least the eyes that met Song Zhuyu were clear and alert. 

"It's alright, Miss Rui. There's no need to stand," Song Zhuyu quickly interjected when he saw her rising to her feet to welcome him. He dipped his head into a polite bow, "Thank you for taking the time to meet me even though you're supposed to be recuperating. I hope you're feeling much better now."
