Chapter 8: Secret Girlfriend ??
Kang Yura POV,
3 hours later,
"Yubi~aah, please forgive me. I already told you, I was late to pick you up because I had something to do at school. Jinjja, mianhae, Yubi~aah", I said as I knocked on the door of his room
"Why don't you call daycare when you're going to be late? I hate people who aren't on time!", he answered from inside the room
"I knew that I was wrong not to tell you. Please come out, Yubi. I'm sorry," I said in a pitiful voice
"Ani! Because of you, noona, I missed my favorite cartoon! I hate you!!", he shouted
"Aigoo", I muttered before continuing. "We can watch the replay on YouTube together", I said
"Ani! That's the latest episode, it's not on YouTube yet!", he said again annoyed
I sighed and leaned against the bedroom door, feeling guilty for what I had done. Yubi is mad because I was late to pick him up at daycare, so he has to miss his favorite cartoon. If only I hadn't barged into the Kendo club room, I definitely wouldn't have been home late, I thought.

"I'm home!", the sound of the front door opening accompanied by my mother's voice
"Ye! Welcome, oemma!", I shouted. "Yubi~aah, Oemma is home. Let's hurry out", I said again from behind the bedroom door
"Ani!", he replied
I sighed again and went over to my mother in the kitchen.
"Why did you look so tired? Are there many activities at school?", asked my mother when she saw me coming
"Ani. Yubi is mad because I'm late to pick him up", I said while sitting at the dining table
"Wae? (Why?)", my mother asked while washing her hands
"Well, Mrs. Jang asked me to join a club, so after school, I went around visiting clubs that caught my attention, asked about the club's activities, and registered. So I was 30 minutes late when I picked up Yubi," I said with a sullen face
"Gwaenchana ... he will surely forgive you soon. Besides, he usually likes to stay longer in daycare, right?", said my mother as she took out the groceries from the refrigerator
"Ani. Not this time. I picked him up when Pororo was about to start playing on TV. And when we got home, the film was over. So he said he hates me now", I said as I put my head on the dining table sadly
"Aigoo… that will be difficult", my mother muttered while looking at me with pity
"Gwaenchana, oemma will talk to him later. Yura~aah, please buy me some potatoes and onions. I want to cook curry but the potatoes and onions run out", said my mother while taking out her wallet from her bag
"Yes", I replied still not excited
I walked up to her, took the money from her hand, and walked limply towards the door. I took the elevator to go down to the mini-market on the first floor. When I reached the first floor I took a deep breath, filling my lungs with the cool night air.
"Annyeong! Welcome!", greeted a mini-market shopkeeper when I opened the door
"Annyeong", I replied smiling at her
I walked over to the shelf where the groceries were. Searched for a few minutes before finally giving up.
"Excuse me, where are the potatoes and onions?", I asked the shopkeeper
"Ah, sorry. We ran out of potatoes and onions today", she replied with a face full of regret
"Ottoke? (How is this?)", I muttered
"Umm, there's another mini market near the station. Try going there, maybe they still have the ingredients you're looking for", she said in a friendly manner
"Okay. Thank you", I said then walked out of the mini-market towards the station at the end of the road
Well, at least I can clear my mind now. Strolling under the night sky while looking at the lights of the buildings lining the main street gave me a little peace.
Unlike Gunsan, Seoul at night is still crowded with cars and pedestrians. The workers who had just returned from work were seen walking in a crowd towards a restaurant to have dinner together. Meanwhile, at the corner of the street, several students run in a hurry to enter a Hagwon (study tutoring place).
Well, seeing high school students wandering around at night is something usual here. Most of these students will take additional lessons after school hours. Moreover, grade 3 students, will spend their time just studying and take additional lessons so that they can be accepted at the best universities.
"Annyeong! Welcome", said a young man who was only a few years above me from behind the counter
"Annyeong! Sorry, do you still have potatoes and onions?", I asked him
"Yes. It's on the shelf over there," he replied, pointing to the shelf on back in a friendly manner
"Thank you," I replied as I walked over to the shelf he was pointing at
I grabbed a few bags of potatoes and onions and headed back to the cashier to pay for my groceries.
"Are these all?", asked the young man with a friendly smile
"Oh! Do you have Pororo ice cream?", I asked doubtfully
"Ne. Over there", he replied, pointing to the ice cream stand next to the entrance
I immediately ran over and grabbed a box of ice cream with 'Pororo The Litte Penguin' on it.
"Add this", I said as I handed the ice cream box to the cashier
"Okay. That's 9,200 won in total", he said as he handed me a shopping bag filled with the things I bought
"Here", I said handing him the money
"Here's the change. Thank you", he replied while handing over the change
"Ye. Thank you", I replied with a nod
I smiled with satisfaction when I stepped out of the mini-market. I have bought things that my mom asked and I have also bought a box of Yubi's favorite ice cream. I hope he won't be mad at me anymore after seeing me buy this for him, I thought happily.
My humming and footsteps suddenly stopped when I saw a handsome young man and a beautiful woman walking out of a place called Alice, a karaoke place and bar, laughing.
I couldn't believe my eyes so I had to blink a few times. The girl who looks a few years older than me is seen casually talking to a man I know. The girl was very beautiful, had a slim body and waist-length black hair that was very smooth and shiny.
The girl was wearing a red blouse with an open back, a black miniskirt, and a high-heeled shoe with an elaborate design. She also wears makeup and lipstick that match the color of her blouse. However, she looks very beautiful and classy.
Meanwhile, the boy who was with him was still wearing his school uniform. He wears burgundy pants with a white shirt that has the Meiwa symbol on his left chest.
I swallowed hard, trying to ignore those who were busy conversing while walking towards a black car parked on the side of the road.
"I have to go. I'll see you again tomorrow", said Kim Seokjin
"Ani. I have to work tomorrow. Besides, you can't keep skipping your extra lessons, right?!", said the girl while stroking Jin's head affectionately
"Gwaenchana", Jin answered slowly
"Ani. I won't let you skip your study, understand! Meet me only on weekends, okay? I don't want you to get into trouble," said the girl again
"But I miss you", Jin whined while holding the girl's hand
"Ani. You have to study and I have to work. I don't want us to get into trouble, arasso!?(Understood!?) or I won't see you again", said the girl sharply
"Arasso, arasso", Jin replied sullenly
I knew I should have left immediately and acted as if I hadn't seen or heard their conversation. But my body refuses to cooperate, I can only stay silent with my mouth open and eyes wide at them.
"Go...", said the beautiful girl to Jin
"Ye. See you on Saturday, then. I'll call you later", Jin said while hugging the girl
"Be careful", the girl said then kissed Jin's cheek
"Omo!", I screamed while covering my mouth with one hand
The two of them turned their heads towards me, but I immediately lowered my face and walked quickly past them.
Aigoo! Pabo! Stupid! Why did I do that!? What if Jin recognizes me??, I thought annoyed while half running towards my apartment.
Ani, ani! Jin can't recognize me, right? Who am I? They must just think I'm a weird kid who accidentally saw them making out earlier, I thought trying to calm myself down.
I pressed the elevator button frantically and breathed a sigh of relief when the elevator that was carrying me had moved up towards the floor where my apartment was.
But, who was that girl? She looks much older than Jin. Is she one of his girlfriends? Gosh, I thought he only approached the pretty girls in Meiwa, but he didn't seem to limit himself. Wow, I didn't expect this, I thought, shaking my head.
"I'm home", I shouted when I opened the apartment door
"Thank God you came on time. Why did it take so long?", asked my mother who was busy stirring something on the stove
"Mian, the mini-market downstairs ran out of potatoes and onions, so I went to the mini-market near the station," I replied, still panting
"Aigo, I'm sorry … you must be tired", said my mother seeing me gulping water excitedly
"Ani, gwaencahana", I replied while putting the empty glass on the dining table
Then I gave the potatoes and onions that my mother asked for. Then took out the ice cream box and walked slowly over to Yubi who was currently watching Pinkfong on television.
"Yubi~aah, look what noona bought for you!", I said while showing the ice cream box in my hand happily
Yubi widened her eyes but he quickly turned his face away from me and put on a sullen face.
"Do you want to bribe me? I'm not a child who will be tempted by ice cream", he said arrogantly
"Aigoo, you're still angry? but I had walked a long way to buy your favorite ice cream, Yubi", I said walking up to him
"Ani, don't lie, noona. You walked far not to buy it but because oemma asked you to buy something, right," he answered while folding his arms in front of his chest
I snorted and smiled slightly at him.
"Okay, okay. You're right. Okay, I'll finish this ice cream by myself, if you don't want it", I said pretending to be sad
He was taken aback by my words and cast his eyes at the ice cream box in my hand.
"Don't finish it right away, you'll get a stomachache, noona", he said still being indifferent
"Ye, I'll eat it slowly, enjoy every bite of it ... Yum, that must be delicious ....", I teased as I walked towards the kitchen
Yubi just kept quiet and stared at the television screen with a pouted and annoyed face. I giggled and put the ice cream box in the fridge.
"Please help me, Yura~aah. Don't tease your brother," said my mother, laughing and shaking her head
"Okay", I answered
I was pretty busy after that, helping my mother cook and prepare our dinner, then showering and doing my chores. Until I forgot about Jin and his girlfriend.
