That was an option Nico didn't have. Even with an Alpha-ranked System Compatibility, it would have taken multiple years for her body to regenerate the damage that had been done to it, and there was no guarantee that she would have come out at anywhere near peak performance.

Well, physically strong and physically enduring really should be two different things...I really can't agree with strength and speed as divided stats, and with stenght doubling as vitality or endurance.
Unlike the Line and Corvette Class simulators, the Crusaders and their simulators have a neural link, allowing pilots to control partially with their thoughts, and increasing their overall capabilities. Max slips the helmet on and gets a message from his system.

Speed and strength should be simply physical power, while the resistance to gravity, movement and other forces should be resilience. It makes no sense that a male would have an advantage as a pilot, unless there was a need of fisical stenght to pilot.What a mech pilot needs is Neural Speed for fast control and reaction; Resilience to the craft movement and Dexterity for manual controles, which doesn't seem to be the case as some sort of neural conection makes more sense, at very least it does for higher tier machines.
That was an acknowledged thing within the Piloting Ranks. The system didn't optimize all bodies the same way, and Female Pilots would cap out lower on strength and speed but higher on dexterity than their male counterparts. Max wasn't sure exactly what level Nico was at now, but as he understood it, the differences started after 100 total bonus points and only got more and more evident among the elite ranks.

It was great until Fargo appeared, after that nothing is done, no getting rid of a great danger neither by assasination or war, as result after many chapters of light city building (with a little too much sex) with very little caution it starts dozens of tiring, dark, slow and brutal chapters that made me drop what i considered a great novel. Well, maybe it's a matter of taste, but this is my impressions of it.
